AI Segment

AI Segment lets you describe who you want to send to in a sentence, and the AI picks the right users for you. Write something like “6,000 users who are likely to buy”, and it looks at your events, tags, and data such as message clicks to find them. You can also keep only part of an existing segment, or add more users to it. The result comes as a CSV file with a list of user IDs.

  • First, choose which users to pick from. Select a segment, or upload a list of user IDs as a CSV or Excel file. To include every user, select the All Users segment at the top of the list.
  • Describe the audience you want in a sentence. Mentioning the channel and how many users you need makes the result more accurate.
  • Not sure what to write? Press one of the suggested sentences and it fills in the box.
  • Press Create. The request is added to Request History below and is usually done within a few minutes.

To add users, write “add …”. To cut down, write “keep only …” or “exclude …”.

  • We’re sending an SMS for a fall outerwear sale. Pick 6,000 users, focusing on those most likely to buy.
  • We’re sending a push. Exclude users who received five or more pushes in the last 90 days and never clicked one.
  • We’re sending an SMS. Keep only users who have a phone number and haven’t opted out of SMS.
  • Add users who visited in the last 30 days to the current audience.
  • Pick users who used to click messages but haven’t clicked any in the last three months.
  • Pick users who bought at least twice in the last 90 days. Count a purchase as the purchase event.

Your requests pile up in Request History. Click a finished or failed request to see which data the AI looked at to pick the users.

  • Each request shows its title, status, and the number of users picked.
  • When you open one, you first see the users you started from and the sentence you wrote.
  • Next come the events and tags the AI checked, in order. The last line tells you how many users were added or removed.
  • Then comes the final number of users with a short description of who they are. If you gave a number, the target shows too.
  • The buttons at the end of the row download the result file or delete the request. A deleted request disappears for other members too.

A failed request tells you which condition no users matched. Rewrite your sentence and try again.

Press the download button on a finished request to get a CSV file of user IDs. Use it to build a segment for your sends, or for internal analysis and other purposes.

  • The audience is fixed as of the time you made the request. To refresh it with the latest data, make a new request.
  • The actual number of messages sent can be lower than the result. Users with no device or phone number to receive the message, or who opted out, won’t get it.
  • If you don’t mention a period for events, the AI looks at the last 30 days. It can look back up to one year.
  • When you upload a CSV file, put userId in the top cell of column A and one user ID per row below it.
  • The users you start from and the result can each be up to 1 million. Only user segments can be chosen.
  • Only requests about choosing recipients are handled. For message copy or performance analysis, ask the AI agent.
  • Each person can have up to three requests in progress at the same time.
